San Diego snow fans now have access to direct daily flights to Mammoth throughout the Winter via United Airlines' regional partner, SkyWest Airlines.

The flight service is scheduled to begin December 15, 2011 and run through April 15, 2012. Flights will leave San Diego's Lindbergh Field daily at 7:40 a.m. and arrive in Mammoth at 9:04 a.m. Return flights leave Mammoth at 3:40 p.m. and land in San Diego at 5:08 p.m.

Great news for San Diegans who dread the 6 1/2 hour desert drive to get to Mammoth.

The new service complements the existing air service from the following areas, which will continue:

• Los Angeles (LAX) - Daily via Alaska Airlines
• San Jose (SJC) - 4X Weekly via Alaska Airlines
• San Francisco (SFO) - Daily via United Airlines
• Orange County (SNA) - Daily via United Airlines
• San Diego (SAN) - Daily via United Airlines
