Snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Mountain was one of the first ski resorts to truly embrace snowboarding as more than a passing fad in the 1990's. Since then Mammoth Mountain has grown hand in hand with the sport of snowboarding, the entire mountain is open to snowboarding and Mammoth is now one of the top resort snowboarding destinations in North America.

There's no mystery why Mammoth is a favorite amongst snowboarders...they visit Mammoth Mountain for the incredibly long season (usually November through May), and the epic amounts of annual snowfall (average of 30 feet per season)...and they come back for the variety of terrain. What truly sets apart Mammoth for snowboarding is the diversity of terrain, with over 90 acres of freestyle terrain, 7 parks, 8 runs, and 3 pipes, including the Super Duper Pipe.

In order of increasing level of difficulty, here's a list of Mammoth Mountain's 7 great snowboarding and freestyle skiing terrain parks:

Mammoth Mountain Freestyle Terrain Parks

  • Disco Park
  • Wonderland Park
  • X-Course
  • Forest Trail Park
  • Jibs Galore
  • South Park
  • Main Park

If pipes are your thing, Mammoth has 3 half pipes, and is one of only a few resorts in North America with a 22 foot tall half pipe, dubbed the "Super Duper Pipe". The Super Duper Pipe is enormous in size and attracts amateur and professional snowboarders from all over the world, including Olympian Shaun White.

Mammoth Mountain Half Pipes

  • 500+ feet long
  • 22 foot walls (compared to 18 on the Super Pipe)
  • 62 feet wide at the top

If you're not into the parks and pipes scene, there is plenty of great snowboarding terrain available on the rest of the mountain, with over 3,500 acres of riding terrain and 150 trails. Mammoth Mountain features 25% beginner, 40% intermediate and 35% advanced terrain, so there is more than enough mountain for snowboarders of every skill level.
